Tripoli North Texas welcomes liquid propellant rockets! With the recent liquid propellant approval announcement by Tripoli, TNT is ready to help support flyers who want to push the boundaries of amateur rocketry with liquid propellant motors. We are ready to help make your flights a reality – if you want to fly a liquid propellant motor, make sure and contact Ken Overton (email on registration page) for additional information.

Welcome to Tripoli North Texas Rocketry

Our Mission
To offer our members and guests the best high power launch experience in the country.

Tripoli North Texas (TNT) is DFW area prefecture of the Tripoli Rocketry Association and has been supporting the DFW area fliers for over 35 years.  

TNT is dedicated to the advancement of high-power rocketry, motor research and development, and STEM support at all academic levels. We follow the safety code of the Tripoli Rocketry Association.

Our Launch Field

 

Located about two hours northwest of Dallas, the "Rocket Ranch" outside Seymour, Texas is one of the finest armature launch fields in the country.  The primary launch area is situated on 100 acres with great views of all the pad banks and is surrounded by plenty of space for recovery. 

We offer a 43,500-foot AGL (45,000-foot MSL) waiver for commercial  and research motors.

Our site is supported with wireless launch control electronics as well as multiple high-power launch pads with both 10/10 and 15/15 rails.
We also offer model rocket pads with both rods and rails.

The field is complete with electricity, porta-potties, and camping is allowed on site.

Volunteering

Club volunteer highlights:

  • certify aerospace and other engineering students to safely fly high power rockets

  • provide qualified volunteers for mentoring and support of high-power rocketry in STEM programs at the university level

  • volunteer at the IREC launch held near Midland, Texas

  • work with high schools to incorporate rocketry into their STEM programs

  • provide assistance to the public at large to support the hobby of high-power rocketry

In addition to the launches we host at our North Texas sites, TNT members routinely attend other launches:

  • Tripoli Houston launches held at Hearne Municipal Airport or at the Double T Ranch (Paige, TX)
  • Austin Area Rocketry Group launches held at Hutto
  • Kloudbusters launches (Airfest, Distant Thunder) at Argonia, Kansas
  • Tripoli Gerlach BALLS launch at Black Rock Desert, Nevada
